The short version
- SoloSquare helps adults meet through small, real-world plans. It’s for people 18 and over, and it’s free to use.
- You choose who to meet, at your own risk. We don’t run plans or check backgrounds, so meet in public places and trust your instincts.
- Be kind and honest. We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate, threats, unwanted sexual content, scams, and fake profiles.
- Report anything that worries you. Our team reviews reports and can remove content and accounts.
- Your content stays yours, and you can delete your account at any time in Settings.
- Estonian law applies, and you keep the consumer protections of the country where you live.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply.
1Who we are
SoloSquare is run by SoloSquare App, based in Estonia. When these terms say “SoloSquare”, “we”, or “us”, they mean SoloSquare App.
These terms cover the SoloSquare website at solosquare.app, our mobile apps, and everything you do with them (together, “SoloSquare”).
You can reach us at [email protected]. It’s also our single point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act. Members and anyone else can write to us in English, and authorities can write in English or Estonian.
2Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using SoloSquare, you agree to these terms, including our community rules. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
If you don’t agree, please don’t use SoloSquare.
3Who can use SoloSquare
- You must be 18 or older. By using SoloSquare, you confirm that you are.
- You must be allowed to use SoloSquare under the laws that apply to you, including sanctions laws.
- You can’t use SoloSquare if we’ve removed you before, unless we’ve told you that you can come back.
- Accounts are for individual people: one account per person, used only by you.
4Your account
- Keep your sign-in details private. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has access, change your password and tell us straight away.
- Be truthful about yourself. Your name, age, and photos must be yours and up to date.
- Your gender can’t be changed after you finish your profile, because it decides which Girls only and Boys only plans and rooms you can join. If it’s wrong, contact us.
- A selfie review is optional. It means a person on our team compared a selfie with your profile photos. It isn’t an identity check or a background check.
5How SoloSquare works
- Plans. Members host and join small plans with a time, a public meeting point, a host, and a small group. Some plans need the host’s approval, and some are only for women, men, or members of the LGBTQ+ community (shown as Girls only, Boys only, and LGBTQ+).
- Chats. Each plan has a group chat for the people in it. City chat is for members checked in to that city. There are no private messages.
- Recaps and show-up records. After a plan, the host confirms who came, and everyone can answer three quick questions. Your profile shows how many meetups you’ve had and, after three confirmed plans, your show-up rate. “Couldn’t make it” doesn’t count against you.
- Free and Premium. You can use SoloSquare on Free. Optional web Premium costs $9.99 USD per week, $21.99 USD per month, or $89.99 USD per year. Subscriptions automatically renew at the selected interval until cancelled. Eligible first-time subscribers can try the annual plan for 7 days at $0; after 7 days, $89.99 is charged for the year unless cancelled before the trial ends. Weekly and monthly plans start billing immediately. The annual trial is available once per member; returning subscribers pay the annual price without another trial. Closing a paywall does not start a subscription.
Web payments are processed by Stripe. Manage your payment method, invoices, and cancellation in Settings → Plan & billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the current paid or trial period. Deleting your SoloSquare account cancels its web subscription immediately. App Store and Google Play purchases must be managed with the relevant store. Contact our support team about billing problems or refund requests; any applicable consumer rights remain unaffected.
We don’t organize, supervise, or check plans, venues, or members, and we aren’t part of any arrangement between members, such as sharing costs. Each member is responsible for the plans they host or join and for how they behave.
6Community rules
SoloSquare only works if people feel safe showing up. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior, on SoloSquare and at plans. Don’t:
- Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who isn’t interested.
- Post hate speech or attack people for who they are, including their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
- Post sexual content or nudity, or make sexual comments or advances that aren’t welcome.
- Threaten or encourage violence, self-harm, or anything dangerous.
- Post anything illegal, or buy, sell, or promote drugs, weapons, sexual services, or other illegal goods or services.
- Spam, scam, advertise, sell, recruit for a business, or ask other members for money.
- Create fake or extra accounts, pretend to be someone else, use photos that aren’t of you, or lie about your age.
- Share anyone’s private information, photos, or messages without their permission.
- Bring anyone under 18 into SoloSquare or its plans.
- Share, request, or create child sexual abuse material, or sexualize, groom, or exploit anyone under 18. Read our Child Safety Standards.
- Post content you don’t have the right to share.
- Misuse SoloSquare: collect data from it with bots or scrapers, get around blocks, limits, or security checks, use accounts that aren’t yours, or interfere with how SoloSquare works.
At plans, respect people’s boundaries, follow local laws and venue rules, and look out for each other.
7Hosting and joining plans
If you host a plan:
- Describe it honestly: what it is, when and where you’ll meet, any costs (like tickets or food), and who it’s for.
- Choose a public meeting point.
- Don’t charge a fee to join, and don’t use plans to promote a business.
- If something changes, tell the group or cancel as early as you can.
- After the plan, mark attendance honestly. Never mark someone as a no-show to punish them.
If you join a plan, show up, or leave it before it starts so someone else can take your place. If you can’t make it after it has started, tell the group in the chat.
8Your content
Your content is what you add to SoloSquare: your profile, photos, plans, messages, recaps, and reports. It stays yours.
So that SoloSquare can work, you give SoloSquare App a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example, resize a photo), and display your content, only to run, protect, and improve SoloSquare. The licence ends when your content or your account is deleted, except for copies we must keep for safety or legal reasons, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You’re responsible for your content and must have the right to share it.
Who sees it: your profile is visible to signed-in members, not to the public. Plan chats are visible to the people in the plan, and city chats to members checked in to that city. Your recap answers and notes go only to our team. More in our Privacy Policy.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
9Reports and moderation
How to report
- In the app: use Report on a profile, a chat message, or a plan. Reports are private: the person isn’t told who reported them.
- By email: anyone, including people without an account, can report content they believe is illegal to [email protected]. Tell us exactly where it is (a link or a clear description), why you believe it’s illegal, and your name and email address, and confirm that you believe your report is accurate and complete. You don’t need to give your name when reporting child sexual abuse material. We’ll confirm we’ve received your report and tell you what we decide.
If anyone is in danger, contact local emergency services first. In the EU, call 112.
How we decide
We don’t check what members post before it appears, and we aren’t required to monitor it. Our team reviews reports. Beyond what the law requires, what we do about a report is up to us. We look at the reported content and, where needed, related plans, messages, and account history. We don’t use automated tools to decide on reports or to remove content. We do use automated protections against abuse, such as bot checks and limits on how often an action can be repeated.
We act carefully, objectively, and in proportion to what happened, and we consider the rights and interests of everyone involved.
What we can do
- Remove content, such as a message, photo, or plan.
- Limit features or suspend an account. A suspended member is signed out everywhere, and the plans they’re hosting that haven’t ended are cancelled.
- Permanently remove accounts, especially for serious or repeated violations.
- Share information with the police or other authorities when the law requires it, or when someone’s life or safety is at risk.
If we act on your content or account
We’ll tell you what we did and why, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it. If you disagree, you can reply to our message or email [email protected].
10Meeting people safely
SoloSquare helps people meet, but you meet other members at your own risk. We don’t check members’ identities, ages, or backgrounds, and we can’t guarantee how anyone will behave. Profiles, plans, and show-up rates come from members and hosts, and we can’t promise they’re accurate. Meeting points, maps, times, and directions can be wrong, so check them yourself. SoloSquare isn’t an emergency service.
- Meet in public places, and tell someone you trust where you’re going.
- Arrange your own way there and back.
- Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time.
- Some activities, like hiking, swimming, or nights out, carry risks. Only do what’s right for you, and follow local laws and venue rules.
You’re responsible for your own decisions and behavior when you meet people. Our safety tips, here and on our help page, are general suggestions, not professional advice.
11SoloSquare’s rights
The SoloSquare name, logo, design, and software belong to SoloSquare App or to the people we license them from. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use SoloSquare under these terms. Please don’t copy, change, or reuse them without our permission.
Open-source software and map data are used under their own licences. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
12Other services
SoloSquare uses or links to services run by others, such as maps from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, directions in Apple Maps and Google Maps, and the social profiles members add. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we aren’t responsible for them.
13Changes and availability
SoloSquare is a new service and still changing, so it may have bugs, and it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. Messages and alerts can be delayed or missed. We may add, change, or remove features, or stop offering SoloSquare. We aren’t responsible for problems caused by things outside our control, such as outages at our providers or on the internet.
14Responsibility for loss
As far as the law allows, SoloSquare is provided “as is”: we don’t promise it will always be available or free of errors, or that what members post is accurate.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage connected with SoloSquare, including how members behave, on SoloSquare or in person, plans and venues, and other services. Where the law doesn’t allow us to exclude liability, our total liability to you is limited to €1.
If you break these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you’re responsible for that claim, as far as the law allows.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law doesn’t allow us to exclude, such as for death or personal injury caused by our fault, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer.
15Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Privacy & safety → Delete account. It’s immediate and permanent. Our Privacy Policy explains what’s deleted and what we keep.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the law, if you put others or SoloSquare at risk, or if the law requires it. We’ll tell you why, as described in Reports and moderation.
Parts of these terms that are meant to last, such as those about liability and disputes, still apply after your account ends.
16Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and we’ll post the new version here with its date. If you don’t agree with a change, you can delete your account. If you keep using SoloSquare after a change, the new terms apply to you.
17Law and disputes
If something goes wrong, please write to us first at [email protected]. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
If you’re a consumer, you can bring a claim in Estonia or, where the law allows, in the courts of the country where you live. Otherwise, disputes go to Harju County Court (Harju Maakohus) in Tallinn, Estonia.
Consumers in Estonia can also turn to the Consumer Disputes Committee of the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority.
18General
- These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about SoloSquare.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can’t transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to an organization that takes over SoloSquare, as long as your rights aren’t reduced.
19Apple App Store
If you downloaded SoloSquare from Apple’s App Store:
- These terms are between you and SoloSquare App, not Apple. SoloSquare App, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content, including its maintenance and support.
- You may use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store’s usage rules allow.
- If the app doesn’t meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple isn’t responsible for claims about the app, such as product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims. We handle them as these terms describe.
- You confirm that you aren’t in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated by the US government as “terrorist supporting”, and that you aren’t on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile data agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
