When to visit Jersey

May–September for beaches, walks and full ferry timetables; July–August is busiest. Winters are mild but windy, with fewer sailings and many attractions shut.

Good to know

Entry

  • Part of the Common Travel Area: no passport control arriving from the UK, Ireland, Guernsey or the Isle of Man; airlines and ferries still want photo ID.
  • Since 23 April 2026, visa-exempt visitors (not British or Irish) need an ETA: £20, valid two years. A UK ETA also covers Jersey.
  • French nationals on day trips by scheduled ferry can use a national ID card instead of an ETA.

Visa rules by passport

Laws visitors break by accident

  • Speed limits are low: 40 mph island-wide, 15 mph on signed green lanes.

Etiquette

  • Check tide tables before walking on beaches or reefs
  • Queue patiently; island life is unhurried and polite

Tipping

10–12.5% in restaurants unless a service charge is added; not expected in pubs.
