Calabria
Italy's toe: cliff beaches at Tropea, clear water, quiet inland villages and some of Italy's lowest prices. A car helps; trains are slow, and English is limited outside resorts.

- Mixed: cards and cash Cards work in hotels and bigger restaurants. Many beach bars, small shops, markets and parking attendants prefer cash.
- Currency: Euro (EUR). US$1 ≈ €0.89 on 03 Oct 2026.
- ATMs: Use bank ATMs (Bancomat), not Euronet machines; always decline the ATM's currency conversion.

- Paying by phone: Apple Pay and Google Pay widely accepted; tap a bank card at metro gates in Rome and Milan.
